Who did we NOT vote for last night? The two guys and two girls who garnered the least amount of the 28 million votes sent in over the last two nights are going home tonight. Of course, we have to sit through some crap before we find out. By crap, I mean all 24 of these kids are dressed in 60s’ garb as they perform perhaps the worst group medley in American Idol history. This is worse than cheesy.
Back from the break and we get a review of the guys' performances from Tuesday night. Then, with very little chatter, Ryan abrupty tells 17-year-old Garrett Haley goodbye. Garrett doesn’t seem shocked, but I am – and disappointed too.
Now Ryan announces that the next AI Top 24 victim is Amy Davis. We all saw this departure coming. Perhaps she doesn’t. The most unfortunate part of her demise is that we have to suffer through her crackling rendition of "Where the Boys Are." I can’t believe they sent the Air Force Chick (from the auditions) away and kept this hideousness.
Judge Randy Jackson, who toured with Journey back in the 80s, has a new album out and none other than our own Paula Abdul has a cut on it. The video is enjoyable and demonstrates the fact that Paula is more famous for her signature dance moves than she is as a singer. Plus, she looks great!
Instead of switching back to the guys, Ryan asks Joanne Borgella and Amanda Overmyer to take center stage. He then announces everyone sitting on the sofa is safe and will be back again next week. After the break, we find out which one has to pack their bags.
It’s the moment of truth and we learn that Joanne gets the disappointing news that she gets to sing her swan song, "I Say a Little Prayer for You." Well, I reluctantly admit that my husband correctly guessed tonight’s bottom two girls.
So, who will be joining Garrett, Amy and Joanne out the door? It’s either going to be Chikezie Eze or Colton Berry. Will I get at least one guy’s departure correct? Unfortunately, no, as I get to hear Colton perform "Suspicious Minds" one last time. You have to be freakin’ kiddin’ me. I can’t believe Chikezie got more votes than Garrett and Colton!
I am quite saddened – depressed even – for the two young men going home tonight. Where is the justice? Oh yeah, America did, at least, get it right with the girls. Well, we’re down to the Top 20 so brace for a brand new week which kicks off with another hour and a half next Tuesday night.
BTW ... have you voted in this week's poll in the upper left hand corner of this page? Time is running out!
