Top 12 Decided

What kind of stupid 80s montage will our group of 16 youngsters subject us to tonight? Good news! It doesn’t look like there will be one. Thank goodness! Instead, we’re treated to a performance from last year’s American Idol Runner-Up Blake Lewis. Last year’s batch, with the exception of Melinda Doolittle and to a degree Blake, was a dismal bunch of losers. I’m liking this Blake ditty but the song would be more enjoyable without his trademark beat boxing.
To recap, I predicted Danny Noriega and Luke Menard would be going home tonight for the guys. For the girls, Kady Malloy and Asia’h Epperson. So, here’s how it’s going down …

Safe
David Cook
David Archuleta
Jason Castro
Brooke White
Syesha Mercado

Gone
Kady Malloy – So far, I’m one for one on my predictions.

Safe
David Hernandez
Michael Johns

Gone
Luke Menard – Two for two.

Safe
Remiele Malubay
Carly Smithson
Amanda Overmyer
Kristy Lee Cook

Gone
Asia’h Epperson – Three for three. This has to be very emotional considering her dad passed away two days before she even began on her AI journey. If she would have sang last night the way she is right now, she may have still been in the competition.

So, it’s down to Danny Noriega and Chikezie Eze. Chikezie is ready to accept the worst news ever only to be told to take a seat. He’s safe and obviously flabbergasted. I’m not. He deserves to stick around and not so sadly, we say adios to my fourth correct prediction – BYE BYE GIRLY MAN!

Next week we should be treated to the vast repertoire of Beatles tunes for the first time in American Idol history. Hooray!!! Anything from that Sgt. Pepper’s album works for me!
